Got tired midway through writing the post, maybe I’ll return to it later but TLDR; Jurassic Park and Tremors both spawned a franchise of fun monster movie flicks that kept escalating in terms of action/guns/monsters, but the first films are the best because they master the art of pacing, taking their time to introduce the characters and set up the cast/setting, and building up the monsters* over the first half before setting them truly in motion- along with emphasizing the ‘oh god oh fuck they can Learn’ aspect, not just the ‘agh scary monster’ aspect.

*The dinosaurs have more nuance than the graboids, but both creatures largely serve as antagonistic beasts of the film so shhh it counts.
